WHO will be Miss Sunderland 2012? YOU decide.
The organisers of this year's pageant have pitted two former Miss Sunderlands against each other in a battle of the beauties.
It means Wearsiders can choose, via phone vote, who they would like to see represent the city at Miss England this year - Philippa Attle, 18, from Chester-le-Street, or Tamzin Cummings, 21, from Ashbrooke.
The winner of the People's Choice vote will be able to draw upon their previous experience at the Miss England final in the hope of stealing the national crown. Miss Sunderland 2011 Philippa Attle said: "It's a great opportunity to go back into Miss England.
I learnt so much from the last final and gained a lot from it. It really boosted my confidence, I would love to reach the final again"
The winner of the public vote will strut her stuff as Miss Sunderland Semi Final on the 30th May 2012 at Champneys Springs.
Organisers of the Wearside pageant chose to change the format of this year's contest because of the reorganisation of the Miss England final which has been brought forward due to the Olympics.
Tamzin Cummings was the most successful Miss Susnderland ever during her reign in 2010.
She came forth in Miss England and went on to compete in Miss World University in South Korea
The Sunderland University student said: "I'm good friends with Pip so it's a funny situation, but it should be good fun.
"I'd never turn down a good opportunity and this is another chance to represent my city which I love doing.
"Competing in Miss England opened so many doors for me. I've had the chance to travel and I've met some great friends."
