Two West Midlands women crowned Miss Wolverhampton & Miss Birmingham at the “Haus of Noor” event, a night Celebrating Women Empowerment, Creativity and Collaboration!
On Friday 15th March, a group of talented and inspiring women came together to celebrate at the Grand Station Wolverhampton.
The “Haus of Noor” event is, a night full of creativity, fashion, concepts, community, and collaborations. The organisers were thrilled to witness the positivity and encouragement shared between women from all walks of life.
The evening was filled with breath taking designs from collaborators. From Indian fusion to resort wear, our partner designers showcased their talent on beautiful models from diverse backgrounds. Designers showing their collections included “Milakhe, Bassi Boutique , Swished & Decorium”.
The gourmet chefs also displayed their skills, putting forward a delicious spread to keep the guests energized throughout the night.
A particularly inspiring moment was the chat show “Who’s on the Couch” featuring Polly Bhambra and Rajni Singh, as they discussed their journeys, challenges, and ultimately how they overcame them, while providing important insights and advice to our attendees.
Two women were crowned Miss Wolverhampton & Miss Birmingham who will now represent both cities in the next Miss England Grand Final in May.
“Sophie Dickson” age 22, from Cheslyn Hay is a professional dancer who started performing at the age of 3. Sophie was crowned Miss Wolverhampton & spoke openly to the judges about her reasons for wanting to support the Wolverhampton based Charity Balls to Cancer who are nominated as recipients for funds raised at the Miss England final in May. “I want to highlight a charity that means something to me. This is why Balls to Cancer is so important. In 2021 my Grampa was diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer, but because of underline health problems he couldn’t have any evasive treatment. I want to raise awareness for people like my Gramps who have to live with cancer everyday and encourage more men to come forward and be tested. If by the end of this just one male has gone for a PSA test I know I have helped someone”.
“Sanjna Southi” 24 who works in the financial sector was invited to represent Birmingham. Although Sanjna was raised in Wolverhampton she now lives in Birmingham. ” I work as an adviser for consumers wishing to raise dissatisfaction about financially regulated complaints. I support consumers who are vulnerable such as victims of domestic abuse, have thoughts of suicide, bereavement. Sanjna told the judges in the interview round, “If I were to win Miss England my Beauty with a Purpose project would be to support a local Birmingham charity called GilGal which provides short term emergency refuge to support women and their children who have been victims of domestic abuse. Having gone through something very similar 10 years ago, in Wolverhampton my mother left her marital home with me and my three siblings and relocated to Birmingham to start a new life. We had no money, no food, no clothes and no roof over our head. My mother moved to England from India after having an arranged marriage.”
The night concluded with a dazzling fashion show, which saw the crowning of the beauty queens & singing performances from two Miss England finalists.
“Milla Magee” & “Eloise Sarasini” travelled from Shropshire and Newquay to take part in the fashion show & were presented with their area sash thanks to their respective sponsors in front of the 120 strong audience.
The Miss England finalists are all supported by various sponsors in the competition including the headline sponsor for the national event, “WATERMANS HAIR “
