“Grace Richardson “ (19) from Birstall has been crowned Miss Leicestershire 2024 at Kibworth Grammar School . Having initially auditioned for the role at Stu Williamson Photographers, in August 2023 little did she know just 6 months later she would be wearing the county crown and on her way to the Miss England finals.

Grace is a talented musical theatre student and has been dancing since the age of 3!

The event took place alongside a Miss England semi finalists event at Kibworth Grammar School on Saturday 3rdFebruary hosted by  Kibworth celebrity hairdresser Andrew Minarik.

Contestants from all over England attended a Beautiful Brows & Lashes make up Tutorial from professional MUA “Afshan Islam” learning different make up technics  and a confidence & catwalk class taken by Lisa Powell from Thurmaston who has been the Miss England Choreographer for over 20 years.

Beautiful Brows then gifted all the contestants who took part in the day and evening event.

The previous Miss Leicestershire winner “Tia Carter” had proudly held the title for a 4 year period after being crowned the winner in her own back garden in lockdown !

Tia hugged Grace & wished her all the best in the Miss England contest when she won

Tia gave an outstanding speech about the various charitable events she had supported with her role , winning the talent round in Miss England & about her 4 year reign. Tia finally thanked her mum “Thelma” and sister a former Miss Leicestershire “Sapphire” for their support during her lengthy reign.   Tia was presented with a beautiful silver friendship bracelet from organiser of the Miss Leicestershire contest since 1990 “Angie Beasley” as she thanked Tia for being a great ambassador & good role model for the community. 

 

Grace who has modelled previously, looked stunning in a recycled red evening gown pre owned by her best friend for the ethical catwalk show. Other rounds in the contest included posting a make-up free picture on social media to promote natural beauty and a fundraising round for the Sue Young cancer Support charity

.

Grace was sponsored by KAI KITCHEN in St Martins Square Leicester in the competition.

” We are so proud of Grace. It takes courage to put yourself forward, and be a part of something as big as Miss Leicestershire and Miss England. We remember watching pageants on TV when we was young but never dreamed that years later our daughter would be crowned Miss Leicestershire 2024!

It still feels a bit surreal. Out of all the wonderful contestants, our little (ok, 5 ft 11 tall) Gracie is Miss Leicestershire . The whole family is ecstatic. What an amazing opportunity. We are excited to watch Grace’s Miss Leicestershire journey unfold.”

 

Contestants from across the country  attended throughout the day included “Alice Cutler” 26 a solicitor from Southampton who won the recent Miss England semi-final talent round. Alice read out a poem on the night that she had written called “COURAGE” and received her Miss Southampton tiara and sash from Tia.

“Elvira Styles” 22  from Calcot Reading, is a social media consultant & TikTok Comedian with a green belt in martial arts!  Elvira who has over ½ million followers impressed the judges in the semi finalists interview & catwalk & will now be competing with Grace at the Miss England National final in May at the Grand Station Wolverhampton.

Yorkshire’s Dream Heritage Eco Queen “Rebekah Watkins” opened the show with her impressive Saxophone performance which is part of her talent entry to the Miss England semi final .

The winners received bracelets from CME Leicester , Products from Indola UK & vouchers from Minariks hair & beauty salon.

Miss England Director Angie Beasley said “ I was impressed by all the contestants they were so inspiring.   The facilities on site at Kibworth Grammar School were fabulous , we hope to be back again in future. Id like to thank all the companies who supported the event including Beautiful Brows & Lashes the make up partner for Miss England ,  Moments Balloons, CME Jewellery  , Kreative Bakes & Plan Burrito & Stu Williamson Photography for all the team for helping make the contest happen.”
