Young women and girls are at risk of domestic abuse, sexual violence and harassment on the streets and in their homes. Solace is on a mission to make London a safe place for everyone.

In London, the threat of violence against women and girls has been magnified.

As we remember Sarah Everard, Sabina Nessa, Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, and the countless other women who have lost their lives to male violence, it is vital that we come together to end violence and make sure every woman and girl is safe in our city.

International Women’s Day event will put young women’s safety firmly back on the agenda, coming together with other vital organisations and change makers to discuss how we can make London a safer city for every woman and girl .

The reigning Miss England has been invited to speak at the event .

Rehema Muthamia, who lives in North London said “

International Women’s Day is a day that we as a people, men and women, come together to celebrate the incredible achievements, advancements and influence that we as women have.
IWD to me means acknowledging how strong women are, ensuring to empower each other and also raise awareness of key issues that women in society face.
Women are powerful, nurturing and resilient and it is these key qualities that I choose to highlight and celebrate on International Women’s Day.
It is an honour to be given the platform and opportunity to be a panel speaker at Solace Women’s Aid IWD event. Speaking on and raising awareness of violence against women and girls and domestic abuse, is imperative to highlight the injustice and gender inequality that women continue to face today. I choose to continue to stand up, speak out and fight for such an injustice.

I’m so excited to be part of @solacewomensaid Powerful Together event at the fab Rich Mix in the heart of East London.

Come join us and other like-minded women as we celebrate International Women’s Day & show our support for survivors of abuse.
