By Milla Magee – Miss England 2024

This evening our community came together, young and old to light a beacon. To honour a pivotal moment in history that we shall never forget as a nation, along with our allies.

I feel incredibly honoured to have been invited this evening. As we held a minutes silence in respect of our fallen hero’s. I could hear the sea behind us, and it felt like we could have been in Normandy at Juno beach- 80 years ago

It was hard to not feel emotional, thinking how these men would have felt going into the unknown. As they arrived on unknown shores, these soldiers gave everything to there King, Country and FOR US ALL.

So we could live in peace.

That is something that we will never forget. These brave men did not die in vain, and the ones that made it home we honour you today and everyday.

Thank you to the wonderful St Mawgan @militarywiveschoirs who sang a selection of beautiful songs. Encouraging us all to join in with some of the well know songs from the era.

I met some incredible people tonight, who I hope I will see a lot more of.

Thank you, for such an important and meaningful evening. Thank you for our freedom. Thank you for your service – we promise to #neverforget

Communities uniting together to honour those that sacrificed so much for our safety. Honouring a significant moment that changed history

#leastweforget our countries heroes. Their legacy lives on in our hearts and history. It is our duty to remember them.

The ones who fought for our freedom. The ones who served for our peace. Let’s reflect on the everlasting impact they made to our world.
