Watermans Hair are now the headline sponsor for the Miss England Grand final which is being held over two days at the Grand Station , a large events venue based in the city centre of Wolverhampton in the Black Country.
The venue recently featured in a BBC documentary titled ‘The Hidden World of Hospitality’ and is currently the British Asian Wedding Venue of the Year.
The Grand Station is delighted to be hosting the two-day final of Miss England at its venue & Danny Thompson the Director of Sales and Development will be on the judging panel at the final.
The exciting competition will be held on Thursday 16th & Friday 17th May 2024, with the first night being the Ethical Fashion auditions , Beauty with a Purpose Awards and the Talent shortlist will be given the opportunity to perform .
Forty contestants have now been selected for the final from across England and now the judges of the various rounds in the lead up to the final and the final judging panel will select the national winner to represent England at in the 72nd Miss World.

Just over 4 months ago, I shared my journey of navigating vet school as a working-class
girl from Chichester with big dreams and a hot pink stethoscope. Today, I’m proud to be
writing this not only as a veterinary medicine student at the Royal Veterinary College,
but as Miss Sussex 2025 and a finalist in the Miss England competition.

Since becoming a Miss England finalist, the question I’ve been asked most is: How do
you balance it all? Veterinary school. Advocacy. Pageants. My answer is simple: I
stopped trying to fit a mould and started showing up as my whole self- muddy boots,
pink stethoscope, high heels and all.
When I entered vet school at the Royal Veterinary College, I already knew I would be
different. A working-class girl, the first in her family to go to university, studying at the
world’s top vet school- statistically, I wasn’t supposed to be here. But statistics never
met my unwavering determination.
And when I entered Miss England, I knew again that I wouldn’t fit the typical image. But
that’s exactly why I entered. Because it’s time we expanded the image. Success doesn’t
look one way. Beauty doesn’t sound one way. Purpose isn’t a singular path.
In this next chapter, as Miss Sussex, my mission remains clear: to show young people –
especially girls from disadvantaged backgrounds – that there is no singular mould for
success. You can be studious and stylish. You can scrub into surgery one day and step
onto a pageant stage the next. And most importantly, you can lead with both kindness
and conviction.
Over the past year, I’ve continued working alongside the Sutton Trust, raising awareness
around social mobility and speaking about accessing higher education. I’ve also
become increasingly involved in conversations about educational inequality –
highlighting how cuts to Pupil Premium funding are affecting students across the
country. I know first-hand how crucial that funding was to me- hat support wasn’t a
luxury. It was a lifeline. Textbooks, technology, transport – it all adds up, and no one
should be priced out of their potential. Now, I see that lifeline being pulled away from
others. Cuts to education funding and widening inequality are placing impossible
pressure on young people. I’ve made it my mission to raise awareness about these
challenges and to advocate for more inclusive policies – ones that don’t punish students
for their postcode or financial status.
My cause is education. Opportunity. Representation. I want to ensure that no young girl
ever feels she has to choose between her intelligence and her femininity, or silence
parts of herself to fit in. I wear my pink stethoscope with pride – not just because it
makes me smile, but because it represents the intersection of compassion and
confidence, intelligence and individuality. I bring that same pride to the Miss England
stage, where heels and gowns don’t erase my academic achievements – they add to
them. They’re proof that women are multi-dimensional, that strength comes in many
forms, and that no one should feel the need to shrink themselves to be taken seriously.
I want to help girls understand that femininity and intelligence can – and should –
coexist. That you can show up fully as yourself in any space and still command respect.
Miss England has given me the space to do that. Not by asking me to change, but by
challenging me to be even more of who I am. It’s allowed me to speak up for those still
finding their voice – and that, to me, is what real power looks like.
For too long, pageantry has been mischaracterised as simply about appearance. But
the modern Miss England is a changemaker, an advocate, a role model. Someone who
can connect with the community while campaigning for causes that matter.
Being Miss Sussex 2025 is a huge honour – but it’s also a responsibility. I carry with me
the stories of every young person who has ever been told their dreams were “too big.” I
carry my own story – the little girl from Chichester who spent weekends reading library
books and dreamed of changing the world in her own way.
And I carry the future, too. Because this journey isn’t just about becoming Miss England.
It’s about using every step, every stage, and every spotlight to fight for a future where
success is truly accessible to all – regardless of postcode or paycheck.
So here’s to the next chapter – pink stethoscope in one hand, heels in the other – and a
heart full of purpose. There is no finish line to this journey, because it has undeniably become the beginning
of a movement. The crown doesn’t just sit on my head; it stands for every young person
who dares to dream beyond their circumstances.
And I’m just getting started.
Evanjelin Elchmanar to Represent the Multicultural City of Birmingham in Miss England finals

The newly crowned Miss Birmingham 2025, Evanjelin Elchmanar, will proudly represent the vibrant and diverse city of Birmingham at the Miss England National Final this November being hosted over two days , 20th & 21st November at the Grand Station Wolverhampton.
Evanjelin, a full-time model and charity founder, is the driving force behind Climate X Change, a non-profit organisation that has raised over £100,000 for sustainable, community-led environmental projects. Her long-term vision is to expand this work internationally, particularly in Sri Lanka, where she aims to create sustainable employment opportunities for single mothers.
“Representing Birmingham is such a proud moment for me, especially as I bring my story, passions, and purpose to the Miss England stage,” said Evanjelin. “My mission is to be a voice for diversity, sustainability, and self-love — because beauty isn’t just about what we see on the exterior; it’s about how we show up for ourselves, for others, and for the world around us.”
Currently based in Moseley, a leafy Birmingham suburb known for its creativity and cultural richness, Evanjelin enjoys sharing that J.R.R. Tolkien once lived there — with the area inspiring parts of his legendary Lord of the Rings novels.
Born in Paris as the city’s first Christmas baby of the new millennium, Evanjelin is of Sri Lankan heritage. Her family’s journey took her from Greece and France to the UK, where she grew up as the youngest of three siblings.
Her passion for the arts led her to Toronto, Canada, where she studied acting and TV presenting at Tafft College. During this time, she also developed a passion for cooking and health, inspired by a personal health challenge that reshaped her perspective on nutrition and lifestyle.
Beyond pageantry and modelling, Evanjelin is a singer, pianist, pageant coach, and soon-to-be entrepreneur — with plans to launch her own organic haircare line. She continues to develop her presenting career while remaining committed to charitable projects that make a lasting impact.
With her unique combination of talent, purpose, and multicultural heritage, Evanjelin will now carry Birmingham’s name onto the Miss England national stage, aiming to inspire others with her message of empowerment and sustainability.

“Valentines Day is a great opportunity to celebrate love for friends, family, pets and even oneself” said Milla.
“Despite living In a world full of dating apps and dating shows, I honestly think I’ll meet my person in the surf or sat having a cup of tea somewhere.
I was just 9 when a boy at school came up to me and gave me my first kiss on the cheek! It was so sweet !
I don’t believe in Love at First sight .. I’m a believer in getting to know someone first .
I think you can be attracted to someone at first sight but not love. Love is a powerful strong thing that is taken for granted now, and we need to treasure it.
I am currently single. I always say the right person will fit at the right time, I don’t like to go out and seek that, I know when it will be it will be.
The one and only romantic gesture I have ever received, was for my birthday and I happened to mention to a lovely guy I was friends with that I wanted a particular album for my record collection, I LOVE records.
He happened to find the record and drive all the way out of town to a record store miles away, and surprised me with this record on my birthday. I will forever be grateful and cherish the record in my collection.

“I was invited to take part in the SS21 off Supertalent in September 2024 by Angie Beasley from the Miss England contest after winning the last Fab UK Top Model title at the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate in London.
I was so excited to have the opportunity to model in the Paris fashion week shows, it makes such a change from my normal day job as a nail technician!
I decided to go for it, its always been a dream to model at all the fashion weeks around the world!
My mum and family came with me to support me along the way.
I got ready for the trip making sure I took all I needed and off we went to Paris. The flight from Manchester is only around 1hour. I felt very lucky to live so close to Paris as there was so many countries involved from all over the world, some having to travel over 10 hours.
My beautiful room mate Grace Richardson
Supertalent organised the hotel and I shared a room with Grace Richardson a lovely contestant from England who’s a musical theatre student /model and the reigning Miss Leicestershire.
On arrival we had a tour around the amazing highlights of Paris like the Eiffel Tower and Louvre museum.
We then headed down to the designer shops and visited fabulous restaurants etc.
We had the best time.

On the Sunday we headed to meet the designers which was very exciting. I was selected with another 2 other contestants to model for a designer BYSEOWOO. I got some amazing pictures by all the landmarks we visited In 3 different outfits. We visited museums and had some lovely food. Before we headed back to unwind ready for the next day. I was then then asked to model for different designers including Byseowoo Nako, Pietu Couture dresses, A New Golf Izabela Couture Mjadem Handbags and more.
There were around 50 ladies who all took part in the event where I made some life long friends.
The event was fantastic and I loved being apart off this experience, and to finish it off I couldn’t believe I got down to the final 3 in the Supertalent contest! Stood next to the top 3 never did I think for one minute that my name would be called for the winner.

During the Miss England final, I took part in the 1920s We do ethical fashion round. I thoroughly enjoyed this round as I admired the encouragement of sustainability and ethical fashion. I’m a big supporter of this and I love stealing my mum’s old clothes and finding amazing deals on Vinted, a great place for second hand fashion! My first item that was part of my outfit, was my long black gloves. I had already had these lying around as a part of my Halloween collection. Halloween is my favourite holiday so having a lot of costume pieces and accessories lying around is very normal to me. My second item that was also from my Halloween collection was an old lace choker. Last year, my friend for her 18th birthday had a party which was 1920s themed. I had already got a feather headband inspired by the flapper girl style, so I decided to wear this as I believe it was very fitting for the theme and outfit. I then got some small black heels from Vinted for £4.50. As a muslim, I have quite a few head covers lying around. I, of course, have my jersey scarf hijab which I used as a day to day scarf, that I wore around my neck. I also wore my turban style head scarf, like the turbans they used to wear in the 1920s. I believe they had influence from other countries, especially South Asia, where turbans are typically worn. So, having this being a part of my outfit, gave it even more of that personal touch for me. For my earrings, I had taken them from my mums wardrobe. And finally my dress, was too from my mums wardrobe. my mum had quite a few selection of dresses for me. She even had a flapper girl style dress. However, the dress I decided to wore just felt so different to me, and I felt so confident in it, which is always important to me when it comes to fashion.
“With the fundraiser round in Miss England , I had organised quite a few events. I thoroughly enjoy organising charity events and raising money for amazing causes. It’s something I’ve been brought up to do, as my dad is heavily involved in charity and has been a big inspiration in that way for me. I’ve done various things for charity, such as a skydive for Macmillan, a sit down meal for Syria and Turkey, where I raised almost over 18,000 (this is one of my best achievements, and hope to do another event like this again soon), and my dance shows. For the charity balls to cancer I have set up my own just giving page and has asked people to donate. This was not my first time fundraising for cancer. As I have mentioned. I also did a skydive for Macmillan where I had another just giving page set up as well.

In future , I hope to grow my Bollywood classes more and to help women in my community feel more confident about themselves through dance. As well as this, I’d like to advance my own dance, as well as my acting. The arts are very important to me and I hope to have established myself more within the industry in these next upcoming years. I hope to one day be apart of projects and films that help educate people, make them think and touch their emotions.

MISS ENGLAND 2024 RESULTS

The two day Miss England 2024 final sponsored by Watermanshair.com was held at the Grand Station Wolverhampton on 16th & 17th May 2024 .
The owners of Watermans, Gail & Matt Waterman were two of the judges on the panel on the final night .

Forty women from across England were invited to compete in the final part of the competition which included a top 5 talent round, the 1920’s Wedoethical.org fashion round, a make up free round, interview and catwalk on the final day .
Prior to this the Miss England finalists had been invited to enter a series of qualifiers including a Sportsround at the Heart of England Conference & Events centre near Coventry and other rounds. Each qualifier offered a place in the top 12 on the night of the final!
Melissa Butcher, who works as a prison officer received a selection of vitamins from New-u-health when she won the sports round and finished in 3rd place in the national final !
The sportsround led by former Royal Marine Lee Stuart was won by Melissa Butcher who was sponsored by Tyson Fury in the competition !

Here’s what happened at the two day final…
Dress code for the contestants arrival was red & white.
When they arrived the contestants were ready to show evidence of any fundraising done and were photographed with Susan Bates from the Balls to Cancer Charity . Susan had created a fundraising certificate for each finalist . The contestants were then filmed for their introduction videos and rehearsals commenced.

Before checking in to the onsite hotel at the Grand Station , Judges Scott Henshall & Claudine Hope presented the finalists with their Henshall Way Couture curated exquisite luxury goody bags for the Miss England finalists and judges, blending opulence and elegance.
Each bag the finalists and judges received featured a stunning Tomavicci perfume distributed by Billionaire World and MK13’s Quantum Molecular Facial Mist, ensuring a touch of glamour and skincare sophistication. A fundraising challenge for the local Balls to Cancer charity in Wolverhampton & the Miss World Beauty with a Purpose and Papyrus the Suicide Prevention charity were the chosen recipients of the funds raised by the contestants.
Over £42k was raised for the 3 causes!
The top fundraiser was announced on day 1 who was
Charlotte Grant Miss Liverpool raising over £7,130 for the Balls to Cancer Charity
Charlotte raised some of the funds by abseiling down Anfield Liverpool Football club !

Abby Knight from Falmouth impressed the judges and won the Miss England Talent award! Abby represented FAB UK Magazine in the Miss England competition after competing in the FabUK Top model final last September .

The brief was to create an outfit made from 10 items with a travel theme 1920s style !
After help from the judges selecting the shortlist, Kelly Levell chose Milla Magee as the winner . Here is Milla in her Eco outfit with Kelly Levell and Theron Mahoney who also received an award for his Ethical lifestyle !
Milla Magee was chosen as the winner of the We Do Ethical Fashion round and she now becomes an ambassador for Kelly Levell who this year celebrated 10 years being associated with Miss England ! Kelly also presented other ethical awards to special guests she had invited on the night who included Theron Mahoney the young man pictured ! Mary Anne Jennings a Miss England finalist also received an Ethical Queen award from Kelly at the event along with Jennifer Carless a former Miss England finalist for their ethical way of living !

Day two started with the Bare face final catwalk
The contestants arrived fresh faced and completely make up free to do a final catwalk for 3 judges who were, Scott Henshall , Angie Beasley and Danny Thompson .
Two online judges also viewed all the contestants make up free images before the final winner was chosen . Afrose Ameen was voted as the winner of the make up free round ( 3rd in from left in the blue team)

Afrose Ameen ( 23) an engineering masters student from Lewisham was voted as the Bare Face top model with her natural striking looks & bright smile & received a beautiful skincare set from Highborn London.

Finalists were invited to submit a powerpoint to promote the area they live to enter this round.
Judges for this round were looking for knowledge of their local area , interesting facts and famous people and best places to visit with a confident presentation for the shortlist.
Six contestants impressed the judges from all entries submitted who were then shortlisted for a zoom meeting prior to the final who were ;

Alice Cutler won the Explore the Nation Award and was presented with the City Sightseeing sash by Roger Moore on stage at the final and a fast track place in the Miss England final .

City Sightseeing London are kindly organizing a London Bus Tour in the Summer for the Miss England winner and shortlisted finalists!

The finalist were invited to create publicity for themselves and the competition in the lead up to the event . Jessica Pliskin a physics student from Bristol managed to secure a TV interview with local ITV news channel where she spoke about how Miss England has evolved , and appeared in various publications including the TAB Student newspaper read by students across the country , various online platforms including the BBC national website reaching millions of viewers across the country and the world !

Since the Miss England final , Jessica has been invited to participate in the SUPERTALENT of the World Fashion final in South Korea and is now in Seoul representing the UK ! Jessica wants to break in to Modelling and the Miss England final has given her a great start !

For the third year running , Beautiful Brows and Lashes invited the Miss England national finalists to create content on their own social media using products from Beautiful Brows & Lashes .

The brand were invited to chose a winner of their choice who represented their brand well. Miss Manchester Vanessa was voted as the best influencer for Beautiful Brows & Lashes and Vanessa was delighted to reach the final 12 by winning this award. Vanessa will received a paid influencing job from Miss England and more products from Beautiful Brows & Lashes!

Finalists for the Miss England 2024 event all took part in a public vote in the lead up to the Miss England final which ended at 12noon on the day of the final.
The winner of the public vote was Kayla Riley from the Wirral . Kayla ( 18) is a salon owner and was sponsored by a Touch of Bliss in the contest

The finalists were invited to sample Watermans , the headlines sponsors of Miss England 2024 and test their award winning products and post content using the brand. After much consideration , they voted Milla Magee as their favourite contestant !

Milla Magee from Newquay was announced as the Miss England winner and will now represent England in the 72nd Miss World final.
1st runner up was Charlotte Grant from Liverpool
