Interesting Fact
Something fun you should know about me is that I’m a bit of a "self-taught explorer"! For example, I once decided to go on a one-week safari by myself at age 18 in Cape Town while in my heart being terrified of wild animals. I ended up gaining the knowledge I did not know was relevant but that made me realize how much I love embracing the unexpected and finding beauty in the most unplanned experiences. Lastly, I have this little tradition of traveling with no real agenda—sometimes I just book a flight to a place and let the journey unfold, following my instincts and letting the day lead me wherever it takes. It’s kind of like living in the moment, and I find it’s a great way to disconnect, explore, and be open to new possibilities. For me, adventure is about embracing the unknown, whether it’s through a spontaneous trip, a new hobby, or even just stepping into a situation with an open mind and no expectations.

Miss England Semi-Finalist Aliza Kanerawala Turns Personal Tragedy into a Mission to Raise Awareness of Lung Cancer
2 weeks ago
When Aliza Kanerawala was just 13 years old, her world was shattered by the loss of
her mother to stage 4 lung cancer. Her mother had never smoked, lived a healthy lifestyle, and showed no signs of illness until it was too late.
Diagnosed in June 2018 and passing just five months later, her story challenged the stigma and misconceptions around lung cancer.

Aliza with her mother
“My mum was my role model, my best friend, and my greatest source of comfort. Watching her fight so bravely, yet so silently, showed me how much we need to change the way we talk about this disease,” says Aliza now aged 19.
Her mother’s passing left an unfillable silence, but also sparked a sense of purpose. At just 13, Aliza made a promise to herself: she would use her voice to honour her mother’s strength, break the stigma surrounding lung cancer, and give hope to those who feel invisible. From this, she created Breathe for Hope, an initiative dedicated to fundraising, education, and advocacy for those affected by lung cancer—particularly non-smokers who are often overlooked.
Now 20 years old, Aliza is a second-year film studies student going into her third
year, as well as an actor, model and advocate. She balances her academic work with
her creative passions, seeing both as a way to tell powerful stories and inspire
change. “Everything I do is a tribute to my mum’s belief in me,” she explains. “Her
words, ‘Whatever happens, happens for good’, have become the foundation I stand
on.”
Aliza will now take her story and her mission to the Miss England stage as a semi-
finalist in Wolverhampton on October 3rd. For her, the Miss England platform
represents more than beauty—it’s about Beauty with a Purpose.
“Miss England is about standing for something bigger than yourself. For me, it’s the chance to raise
awareness for lung cancer and inspire others who’ve faced loss to turn pain into purpose.”
Public voting for the semi-finalists opens September 22nd on the free Miss England
App, where supporters can place one free daily vote. The winners of the VOTE &
various awards at the semi-final will go on to compete in the Miss England Grand
Final in November, with the ultimate titleholder representing England at the 73rd Miss World next Spring. Just before the semi final a Sports round is being held at the Football Dome in Aylestone Leicester on Saturday 27th September which Aliza is building her own physical strength for as it’s being run by former Royal Marine Lee Stuart. This round will test the contestants physical strength. Through her journey, Aliza hopes to show others that strength can be born from sorrow, and that real beauty lies in resilience, compassion, and purpose. “My story is heartbreaking, but it’s also a story of hope,” she says. “I want to turn my mum’s silence into impact—one breath, one voice, and one life at a time.”
With Beauty with a Purpose being one of the rounds in the competition now, Aliza
has started her own fundraiser in the lead up to the competition here;

Female Gamer In the Miss England Semi Final says “Gaming is not just for boys!”

From “Waste of Time” to Top 10 Female Gamer in UK: Scientist & Esports Star
Charlotte Yeung Shines on ITV’s The Genius Game & in Miss England
Charlotte Yeung, a 25-year-old PhD researcher and semi-professional esports
player, has proved that gaming is far more than “just a hobby” after reaching 2nd
place on ITV’s new prime-time show The Genius Game hosted by David Tennant.
Growing up, Charlotte’s passion for gaming was dismissed in her own household as
“a waste of time.” Today, she has turned that passion into a celebrated achievement
– ranking consistently in the Top 10 League of Legends players in the UK in her
primary role. Now she’s reached the first shortlist on the Miss England App for this
year’s competition and hoping to win a place in the final by gaining the public
support.
Alongside her esports career, Charlotte is pursuing a PhD in Drug Delivery, with her cutting-edge research focusing on developing sustainable systems using beneficial bacteria. She has represented her university in national competitions, competed in both mixed-gender and female-only tournaments, and played in one of the highest- level female leagues in Europe.
Speaking about her journey, Charlotte said:
“I am currently pursuing a PhD in Drug Delivery, where my research focuses on
developing innovative, sustainable solutions using beneficial bacteria. Alongside my academic career, I’ve also been a semi-professional League of Legends player for over half a decade, consistently ranking in the Top 10 position in my role within the UK.
I’ve represented my university, competed in mixed-gender and female-only
tournaments, and played in one of the highest female calibre leagues in Europe.
Gaming, which was once dismissed as ‘a waste of time’ in my household, has now
become one of my proudest achievements, teaching me teamwork, resilience, and
strategy – skills that also strengthen my work in science. Balancing the worlds of
research, esports, and pageantry has allowed me to show that intelligence and
passion can thrive together in unexpected ways.” Now a Miss England Semi-
Finalist, Charlotte is determined to use her platform to challenge stereotypes and
prove that gaming is not just for boys.
Charlotte is set to compete at the next Miss England semi final which is being
held on the 3 rd October at the Grand Station Wolverhampton but if she wins the
public vote she gains a place in the Miss England Grand final in November
when the winner goes straight to the final of the 73 rd Miss World.

Press release – July 2025
The future has arrived — and it’s wearing a crown.
In a groundbreaking move, the Miss England contest has introduced a brand new Artificial Intelligence round, giving contestants the chance to step into the world of tech by creating their very own digital twin & their own side hustle.
Thanks to an exciting collaboration with MirrorMe, Miss England contestants in 2025 are invited to take part in the first-ever AI-powered qualifier in Miss England history called “The Miss England Business Avatar Round”.
Over the course of a two-hour filming session, each participant opting to enter this round can develop a fully animated avatar — a digital version of themselves capable of hosting meetings, delivering presentations, and making virtual appearances. All this with being able to speak over 140 languages.
This innovative new round opens the door for contestants to embrace technology in a whole new way, highlighting their adaptability, creativity, and communication skills in the digital space.
Afton McKeith from London is the first Miss England semi finalist to complete her filming process.
Afton said “It’s such an exciting honour to be the first Miss England contestant to experience the Avatar round. This initiative is a brilliant way to encourage more young women to step into the world of business and technology. A digital twin can be a powerful asset as it allows you to create content that can be reused, save time on filming and even license your likeness to companies for campaigns or educational tools. It’s about working smarter and exploring new ways to build your brand, create income and stay present even when you’re not physically available.”
A New Era for budding Beauty queens & all ?
Through MirrorMe, contestants can record voiceovers and movements to bring their avatars to life, exploring how they might represent themselves in future digital interviews, business pitches, or public speaking engagements. It’s an empowering way to bridge beauty, brains and modern tech.
“Miss England has always been about more than just looks,” said national organiser for 23 years Angie Beasley. “With the rise of remote working, AI and virtual platforms, we felt it was time to reflect the world our contestants are stepping into. This round is about confidence, presence and impact — whether you’re in the room or on a screen.”

What’s Next?
The AI round will be integrated into this year’s semi final & final judging process, giving participants an opportunity to show how they engage with innovation — a skill that’s becoming just as important as stage presence.
TVNF Managing Director – JP Allard says: “What most people don’t realise is the experience that comes as part of being a Miss England contender, helping develop young women into becoming confident spokesperson and leaders in any career. We are adding to this a new AI round that is not only going to help them adapt to the new World of AI, but give them a side Hussle to boost their income with a genuine step up the ladder into towards mastering AI.
We are so proud to bring something new and exciting to Miss England”
With this bold new step, the Miss England contest proves once again that it’s not just keeping up with the times — it’s setting the pace.

Miss England Semi Finalist dedicates her life to Animals !
Amy Joyce is competing in the Miss England semi final and tells us why she entered !
“Miss England drew me in with this round, because it is so authentically me. Often it feels like pageants, social media and even life is built on presenting an image, a curated lifestyle. One that can be appreciated by the viewers, but that remains unreachable. Just enough to leave you questioning why you can’t quite curate that image yourself. However, this is not the case with Miss England it celebrates authenticity- not perfection but truth. And it is not even defying the social media norms that attract me to this round, but instead the fact it is real. The real Amy that you meet in the street is not curated, and however much I wish she was adorned in pageant gowns always, this just isn’t the case. The real Amy is found working at a vet clinic, in her blue scrubs covered in pet hair, rushing around and yet always smiling keen to help the animals.”

National Pride as Thailand Celebrates Miss World Victory with Royal welcome home, commemorative stamps & a visit to Government house to meet the Prime Minister of Thailand
3 months ago
In an emotional and unforgettable homecoming, Opal Suchata Chuangsri, the newly crowned Miss World 2025, returned to Thailand on Saturday morning, receiving a hero’s welcome that reflected the pride of an entire nation. Thailand’s first-ever Miss World was greeted by a sea of thousands at Suvarnabhumi Airport, where tears, cheers, and tradition merged in an impressive display of national unity and joy.
Opal arrived accompanied by Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of the Miss World Organization, who was warmly embraced by the Thai people with flowers, applause, and deep admiration. The crowd at the airport included young fans, supporters waving Thai flags.
Miss World’s humbly expressed her deepest gratitude for the royal kindness of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who graciously sent royal representative Khun Siris Chuachart to the airport to present a bouquet of royal flowers to her as a gesture of congratulations on the occasion of her return to Thailand.
“This royal benevolence is an immeasurable and cherished honor, which I will forever hold in my heart with the deepest respect and gratitude”, Miss World said.
Many joyful fans added their own sparkle to the celebration, some wearing replicas of the Miss World crown, others dressed as Miss World herself or as Julia Morley CBE. Their creativity and enthusiasm were a beautiful reminder of just how deeply this victory has touched the hearts of the Thai people.
The welcome marks a historic first: in 74 years of Miss World history, Thailand had never claimed the crown, that is until now.
It is also a landmark moment for Brian Macar, the country’s Miss World license holder since 1980, who celebrated his first victory as national director after joining forces with TPN Group earlier this year.
As Opal emerged from the airport wearing her crown and Miss World sash, the atmosphere erupted in cheers. Cameras flashed, fans cried, and she walked with grace among them, visibly holding back tears as emotion swept over her. Her gratitude and humility were palpable.
The celebration continued with the ‘Homecoming 72nd Miss World’ event and a ‘Celebration Parade for Thailand’s First Miss World’, which made its way through Bangkok’s iconic Sukhumvit Road. Heading to the parade’s starting point, from the sunroof of her car, Opal waved the Thai flag with pride while fans carried her posters and lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the nation’s new queen.
A chariot-like float led the parade, adorned with elephant idols, the national animal of Thailand, the Miss World iconic crown, and a special throne for Opal at its center. Thousands followed (over 250,000 people spread across two kilometers) as her float wound its way through the capital’s most popular districts.
The tribute didn’t end there. In recognition of her triumph, The Mall Group, one of Thailand’s largest retail empires, led by chairwoman Supaluck Umpujh, gifted Opal a 1 million Baht shopping voucher (approx. USD 30,000).
The Thai Post also announced the release of commemorative stamps bearing her image, turning her victory into a permanent piece of national history.
It all unfolded at The Mall, where over 3,000 enthusiastic fans gathered for an unforgettable celebration, as sponsors were thanked for making all this possible. The crowd had the chance to ask Opal questions, take selfies with their queen, and share in the joy of her historic triumph.
One of the most touching moments came when a group of children joined Miss World on stage and sang the organization’s anthem, “Light the Passion, Share the Dream”. The performance moved many to tears and perfectly captured the spirit of unity and inspiration that Opal’s victory has ignited.
Throughout the day, Opal remained visibly moved. More than once, she wiped away tears, thanking the Thai people for lifting her on this journey. “This crown belongs to all of us,” she said quietly to a crowd that needed no microphone to hear the emotion in her voice.
In her speech, Opal shared words of wisdom:
“No matter who you are or what title you hold, someone always looks up to you. The best way to lead is with grace and action. That is the most powerful thing we can give to the people around us and to our world.”
The day’s events served not only as a tribute to Opal’s international triumph in Hyderabad, India, where she won the 72nd Miss World Festival, but also as a celebration of Thailand’s values: grace, resilience, and unity.
“We are immensely proud of Opal. In such a short time, she has shown the world the strength of her character, a young woman with a kind heart, deeply rooted family values, and a powerful sense of purpose,” said Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman and Founder of the Miss World Organization. “Her longstanding commitment to breast cancer awareness is inspiring, and it’s a cause we will champion together, bringing vital education and support to every corner of the world. Opal represents everything Miss World stands for: beauty with a purpose and the power to uplift others.”
It was a day to remember, for Opal, for Thailand, and for the global Miss World family. And as the sun set over Bangkok, the roar of applause lingered in the air, echoing a simple truth: history had been made, and a star had come home.
And it’s only the beginning of her journey as Miss World and a Beauty With a Purpose ambassador. Since the homecoming event, Suchata had the honour of meeting Mr Somsak Thepsuthin the minister of Public Health in Thailand to drive forward her Beauty with a Purpose Campaign called #OpalForHer to raise more awareness about Breast Cancer . “ With the Ministrys support , we are taking the mission from Thailand to the world “ said Suchaata in her Instagram post .
One of the greatest honours of Suchata’s life so far is meeting Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the first Thai Woman to wear the Miss World crown.
The Miss World Organization extends its deepest appreciation to Khun Supaluck Umpujh, Chairwoman of The Mall Group, along with UOB LIVE, Tero Entertainment, Mr. Brian L. Marcar, TPN GLOBAL, Mr. Wichai Thongtang and Pui Sankosik, Thai Airways International PCL, Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Bangkok, Teng Da Intergroup, and Millennium Auto for the magnificent and gracious welcome extended to Miss World 2025 upon her return home.
