Mary has been very busy this year booking in guest speaker spots with various groups
and schools around Lincolnshire as part of her Beauty with a Purpose initiative,
Empowerment Education.
Empowerment Education is Mary’s second founded project, twinned with her initial
project, SWIFS – Supporting Women Into the Fire Service. Both underlining the Beauty
with a Purpose mission – to inspire, educate, empower and advocate.
Earlier this month, Mary was invited to be the guest speaker at the monthly Sunday
Assembly group, held in Grant Thorold Park, Grimsby. In a large room full of complete
strangers, she took the room by storm to deliver her powerful message of resilience.
Many in attendance where very emotional as Mary spoke of her childhood struggles
with anxiety, depression and an eating disorder. Being told at just 10 years old that she
would soon die from the severity of the eating disorder, she then went onto speak about
how she over came this turbulent time by ‘turning pain into power’.
Mary has been asked by local schools to deliver more guest speaker appearances in
the coming months to inspire their students and show them that there is more to life
when you live with purpose. Whilst some aspects of this ladies inspirational tale are dark – it sure can be said that
she is to have a bright future.
