Laura Turner, a 20-year-old student midwife from Newcastle, is making waves in the healthcare
community with her dedication to maternal and neonatal care. Standing at 5’5”, Laura brings not
only her academic prowess but also a rich multicultural background to her studies.
Born in Spain, Laura is fluent in Spanish, which allows her to connect with diverse patient
communities. Her passion for midwifery is matched by her commitment to learning and
contributing to the healthcare field. In addition to her professional ambitions, Laura comes from a
family of high achievers; her brother recently earned the title of Mr England 2024.

“I’m Laura Alcantara Turner, I’m 21 years old and I am from Newcastle. I am fluent in both English and Spanish and I am currently studying Midwifery at university. Before that, I spent three years studying Health and Social Care, which really strengthened my passion for supporting others.

I come from quite a proud family, my brother is the current Mr England and my Grandma was crowned Miss Huyton in 1972, so I guess you could say it runs in the family! We’ve always encouraged each other to chase our dreams (and sometimes to compete over who gets the mirror first).

I’ve always had a caring and nurturing side, which is what drew me to midwifery and helping others. I would love to use my Miss England title to show that kindness and compassion are just as powerful as confidence and courage.

When I’m not studying, I love cooking! it’s my favourite way to experiment even if not every experiment turns out perfectly. I also enjoy spending time with my family and helping with our dog breeding and showing business, Paulara Collies, which has produced several champions over the years.

Taking part in Miss England has really encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, and I hope to inspire others to do the same, to believe in themselves, embrace new challenges, and discover what they’re truly capable of!”

Laura Turner represents a new generation of healthcare professionals combining expertise, empathy,
and a global perspective. She continues to study and prepare for a career that promises to make a

meaningful impact on communities both locally and internationally.
