PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

Despite enduring years of life-threatening health challenges, Cheshire’s Holly Worswick is determined to keep moving forward — with her eyes firmly set on the Miss England Semi-Final, and having Rainworth Skoda as her sponsor, Holly is taking part in the Miss England semi final on Friday 3rd October at The Grand Station, Wolverhampton.
Holly’s health journey began in February 2021, when a routine Specsavers check-up for vision loss and severe headaches revealed her right optic nerve was four times larger than normal. Within hours, Holly was rushed to A&E, where scans revealed a benign but grapefruit-sized brain tumour (a meningioma). She underwent an emergency eight-hour brain surgery, followed by four further operations to treat infections and replace part of her skull with a protective plate.
In February 2024, surgeons fitted Holly with a state-of-the-art “PEEK” plate. Just months later, in August 2024, she began six weeks of intensive Proton Beam Radiotherapy at The Christie, Manchester — a daily treatment that caused her to lose her hair, eyebrows and eyelashes.
In January 2025, the tumour was found to have spread into her ear canal, leading to infections and severe hearing issues. On 29th July 2025, Holly underwent major surgery to remove the tumour, her ear canal and drum. The procedure left her with a blind sac closure and permanent hearing loss on one side.
Now recovering, Holly is channelling her strength and positivity into her next challenge: the Miss England stage.
“My health issues are ongoing, but I refuse to let them define me. Competing in Miss England is my way of turning my journey into something positive. I want to raise awareness of brain tumour symptoms and show others that even in the darkest times, there is still hope and purpose,” says Holly.
Holly has already begun sharing her story publicly, including meeting with her local MP to highlight the urgent need for community IV antibiotic funding in Cheshire East — a lack of which kept her hospitalised longer than necessary.
Her message is clear: “If something doesn’t feel right — don’t ignore it. Get checked. It might just save your life.”
Holly will join other inspirational contestants at the Miss England Semi-Final on 3rd October 2025.
