MISS ENGLAND FINAL TO RETURN
TO THE NORTH WEST

After 11 years, the Miss England grand finals will be returning to the North West of England. 50 regional winners from across the nation will arrive in Southport for the two day event on the 20th & 21st July vying for the crown & the first prize worth £25,000 bringing lots of new visitors to England's Classic Resort.

Since 2005 the national final to find England's candidate for Miss World has been successfully held in the Midlands, London and Devon.

To celebrate the return of Miss England to the North West, The Miss England organisation, working alongside Southport Tourism and The Southport Flower Show, has created a stunning living dress for the current Miss England, Natasha Hemmings, to wear at the launch on Thursday 11th February 2016. The stunning dress will be created from fresh flowers to complement Natasha's natural beauty.

A photo call will be held in Wayfarers Shopping Arcade Southport with Miss England modelling the dress to launch this year's final.

The Ramada Plaza Hotel, Southport will be host to this years 50 finalists and a fast moving fashion show style final will be held in the Southport Theatre & Convention Centre's Floral Hall on the 21st July, attracting family, friends and sponsors of the competition from across England.

Enda Rylands General Manager of the Ramada Plaza Southport said "We are delighted to be welcoming the 50 final contestants to our fantastic resort and look forward to offering them the very best hospitality in the region throughout their stay with us here at the Ramada Plaza Southport."

Host Hotel for Miss England 2016 is...

Even though the Miss England competition is being held at the seaside, the event has moved away from the bathing beauty image. Instead contestants will take part in a series of qualifying rounds that include sports/fitness, fundraising, talent & an Eco-fashion show whereby contestants are given the chance to use their creative skills and ingenuity to come up with an outfit made from recycled materials. Miss England 2016 finalists from Worcestershire & the North West will be available at the photo call to talk about the different rounds in the competition, and how the contest has changed over the years.

Mark Catherall, Sefton Council's Head of Service for Tourism said "We are delighted that Southport has the opportunity to host such a fabulous event. The resort has an unrivalled reputation when it comes to hosting national conferences and major public events such as the Southport Air Show, The British Musical Fireworks Championship and of course The Southport Flower Show. We are pleased to be associated with Miss England, an organisation that promotes such a healthy and positive approach in the beauty industry and look forward to working with the team.".

Over the last 5 years the Miss England competition has raised more than £700k for disadvantaged children and families in the UK using the Miss World slogan "Beauty with a Purpose". This includes funding custom-built, adapted coaches for disabled children at specialist schools. Over £225k has been raised in the North West by regional Miss England contestants & donated to the Variety Children's charity. For more details please visit http://www.beautywithapurpose.com
