Age: 35
University/College: Liverpool John Moores University
Course Detail: BA Hons in fashion & Textile Design
Background: My dressmaking skills were learnt in my hometown of Krakow, and now, having completed my Fashion and Textile Design Course at Liverpool JM University, I have graduated with a First Class BAHonours Degree. From my Polish background and personality, the source of my inspiration lies within a long tradition of east European costume design and floral motifs; a fusion of cultural diversity and the beauty of surrounding nature. My designs redefine and improvise on original shapes and organic decoration, deconstructing and reconstructing cultural costume into fresh concepts --a fusion of east European costume with organically inspired sculptural shapes and embroidered floral patterns, reinterpreted in compositions of metallic stud work and beadingMy strong ambition is to join a top fashion house and to ultimately create my own label and brand image. ‘I am thrilled to bits and overjoyed to have won the Miss England Student Fashion Design Award, and the thought of Rachel Christie wearing my dress at the Miss World competition simplytakes my breath away. Having just graduated from Liverpool JM University with a First Class Honours Degree in Fashion, this award is a totally unexpected additional pleasure.'says Dorota.

"The winner Dorota Damian of Liverpool John Moores University designed a gown which illustrated such hard work and dedication. You could see the dress has a real winning quality. The skirt was a dream, the impact of the black and white really stoodout, the dress reminded me of a GianfranceFerre." says Natasha Cowan
Dorota's other dress was worn by Helen Lawal.
