Background: Ten years ago, I would have never believed that I would be designing a dress for one of Miss England 2009 contestants. But with one year to go for my BA Hons Fashion Design degree and with two years behind me, I am more confident than ever that the fashion industry is my safe haven. Having the ability to express myself through colours, textures, shapes and designs has really brought out my creative side and allowed to gain a better understanding of myself. I avoid limiting myself to specific fabrics or colour palettes and have an innate fondness for nature and cultures, often taking inspiration from both. In the next year, I plan to challenge myself by creating a collection for my final year at Birmingham City University. In the near future, I hope to work for Missoni - due to my love for their fabulous prints - and Gareth Pugh, whose quirky shapes have inspired my previous works.

samgreco.jpg "I wanted to be self-employed as this gave the maximum flexibility to fit around my children and felt that my skills and interests were making clothes. Being self taught limited me and my abilities so I decided to seek out my local college and enrolled on a course ABC in Multicultural Fashion Design. We were required only to make one garment at the end of the year, I volunteered to create four piece suit and a two piece wedding dress and was exhibited on various shows and cultural exhibitions. I went on to achieve Triple Distinction in my B.Tech.Nation Diploma ended up continuing beyond my wildest dreams with BA Hons. Fashion Design. I qualify in 2010 after which I would aspire to setting my own business creating garments which would break cultural boundaries of east and west.Being Asian I love the mix of asianess with the western silhouettes. My muse are the classics such as Coco Chanel, Versace, Giorgio Armani but current designers such as Alexandra McQueen, Hussein Chalayan and I love the element of drama in the work of an Indian designer Manish Arora"

eleanor.jpgBackground: I love a challenge that has a productive outcome, where I can stand back and look at what I have achieved and also helps me improve my technical abilities, which is why designing a dress for Miss England really appealed to me. After University I would like to further my knowledge in innovative pattern cutting and am considering studying a Masters Degree in this field. I would also like to do some more work experience with a well-known designer or fashion house as I feel this would strengthen my design qualities. I hope to broaden my expertise in an environment that allows me to develop my own creativity. I am especially interested in women's wear and prefer working with fabrics where I can create structure and Interesting shapes but remain open minded and enthusiastic to explore many other techniques.

Following that, my intention is to work with fashion icons like; Jil sander, Luella and Alexander McQueen as a design assistant. As a designer I am open minded, enjoy working with all kinds of materials and colours, even more so vibrant colours. I find inspiration from all around such as; art, culture, history, everyday objects I especially like Polynesian and African culture for inspiration. After about two years of as design assistant within the industry I would like to achieve my Masters in Fashion Design with a top university. My ultimate goal is becoming an established name with my own label in women fashion and accessories.

zoiey.jpgBackground: After completing a two year national diploma in art and design, receiving distinctions and an award for the most promising graduating student. I went onto Birmingham City University to graduate in a BA Fashion Design course. Receiving a First in all my 1st and 2nd year pattern cutting projects, I have decided to follow this direction focusing my 3rd year on Pattern Cutting & Garment Technology. After I graduate in 2010 I aim to get a place at Central Saint Martins where I can study an MA in creative pattern cutting, which has been inspired by Jenny Packham collections where I recently worked as a Pattern Cutter assistant. After gaining the skills needed from my BA & MA I would like to return in the position of a full time Pattern Cutter. I'm a very detailed, determined and patient person which helps me achieve the seemingly impossible. I love to get my hands on any fabric that's thrown at me as I feel it's a challenge but I like to use delicate silks, satins and light chiffon, which is visible in my Miss England dress made for Zoiey Smale.

Background: After completing my third year at university, in which I am specialising in Costume Design, I am hoping to start working in the film industry in the costume department. I am hoping to go on to be a Costume Designer in the future, ideally working on adaptions in the fantasy and scifi genre. I enjoy designing one off pieces as I feel they have more character to them and they allow more of the wearer's personality to shine through.

alex.jpgBackground: Fashion is the way forward. My passion is to create a new phenomenan which reaches out to the inner greatness of every woman. After University I'd love the opportunity to work for an established fashion label and to gain a few years experience in the fashion industry. My ambitions are to be able to own my own fashion label and to one day to be entitled to avail myself as a Haute Couture designer. My dream is to be able to design exquisite, dazzling, one of a kind dresses that make every woman feel glamorous. I'm inspired by the famous Lebanese designer Elie Saab. His use of delicate fabrics and fine details inspire my own designs. I feel my designs reflect my devotion to beauty and glamour and therefore achieve unique femininity. I love working with soft, flowing chiffons and silks. I also enjoy experimenting with different fabrics to create a distinctive style.
