Lucy entertained the audience which was filled with friends and family of the finalists as well as celebrities that include international supermodel and business woman Caprice and Chris Fountain of Dancing on Ice and Hollyoaks fame.

TALENTED, young soprano soloist Lucy Rhodes had been busking in York for just the second time when she was approached by the organiser of the nation's biggest beauty pageant, Miss England.

No, not to enter but to perform at the glamorous final in front of a celebrity-filled audience on 20 July at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel in Edgeware Road.

Angie Beasley, national organiser of Miss England, says, "We were attending the Miss York final and heard Lucy sing when taking a break before the show. Her voice is amazing and her young talent is very representative of what we look for in the young women who enter Miss England. We'll follow her career with huge interest."

Miss England is the only national pageant that sends its winner annually to the renowned Miss World contest, now in its 58th year.

Young women from across the nation will compete over the two days [19 and 20 July] for the chance to represent England in the month long finals of Miss World being staged in South Africa later this year.
