Achievements

I have just finished my last A level exams at West Kirby Grammar school. I hope to go to University in London where I will eventually train to become a lawyer. My A level subjects are in Biology, History, English Literature and Religious Studies. All my GCSE grades were A* and A grades and I have worked hard enough to ensure that my A level grades will follow suit. I was elected a prefect at my school, as well as acting as school council member for many years, form captain and charity representative. I also represented my school on two occasions on the geography national quiz team panel. I have given much of my time to volunteering on the Wirral, organising the Wirral Youth Voice Conference as well as representing the Wirral on 3 consecutive years as a MYP (member of youth parliament). I have been a member of a group called the Young Ministers of Health (YMOH), which is designed to help terminally ill and disabled children in the North West of England get their voices heard by medical officials of the NHS, who primarily make the decisions on the sort of care these ill patients will receive. YMOH held meetings across the North West of England open to the terminally ill, disabled, and their families and carers. I have been an elected member of a group called Participation Works, designed to find the best ways to help young people participate more in the activities which are offered to them. The meetings held in London, allowed me to travel independently building poise. I participated in a project to rural China with the Salvation Army. The project was designed to help improve cultural understanding of China, as well as visit schools in Inner Mongolia which we had fundraised to build. The experience was a life changing one. I have volunteered locally at a nursery for young children weekly. I achieved my community service award and V volunteer award for doing this. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and looking after the young children and helping them was very rewarding.

Talents

The Duke of Edinburgh Award has allowed me to participate in extremely difficult camping expeditions in harsh climates and steep areas, for up to 5 days. I achieved my Bronze Silver and Gold award. The Young Leader Award has allowed me to help other young people in the area with their Duke of Edinburgh Award, by taking them out walking and helping them to mapread.

Ambitions

I am motivated and driven and work extremely hard. I strive for equality as well as fairness and I am determined to make a positive difference to other people’s lives during my lifetime. My ambitions include a successful career after university, travelling around the world, working and meeting different people from different cultures, representing the Wirral and England and bringing a good name to this area. I also plan on spending my university summers volunteering abroad in places such as Uganda and Peru. I am extremely proud of all of the things mentioned above that I have worked hard to achieve. I am confident that Miss Wirral will give me further opportunity to progress on my involvement within the community as well as outside of it.
