Achievements

BA Hons 2:1 in Political Studies from the University of Leeds 09. -Summer 2007: DIUS China Summer School. -Summer 2009: UKIERI India Summer School. Chosen from hundreds of applicants to participate in two government sponsored study abroad schemes, one in Beijing and the other in Delhi. The programmes involved spending 3 weeks in each county learning about culture, politics and basic language. In India the programme also encompassed a work placement with an NGO. - Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Award [2002-2003] - Maurice Broomfield Prize for Achievement in Photography [2005] - Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue Belt achieved in Kickboxing and Krav Maga [2007 – 2009] - Elected Social Secretary of Beyond Fighting Kickboxing club [2008- 2009]

Talents

I have been kickboxing for 3 years whilst at university and have achieved Blue belt level. I enjoy singing and performing and have participated in numerous plays and Musicals including Les Miserables where I played one of the lead roles, Eponine. I am a keen Skier and have spent time in the French and Swiss Alps. I have been modelling alongside my studies from 15, I am agency represented and I have featured in numerous publications and TV commercials including Prediction Magazine, Richard & Judy show, DFS, Getty Images.

Ambitions

I am fortunate to be widely travelled and have completed several volunteer and study programmes aboard. During my Gap year I took part in Voluntary teaching and care work at Macassar Haven, part of the Cotslands group in South Africa. The Haven cares for abused, abandoned, orphaned and or HIV-positive children. I helped care for the children and to prepare them for starting school. I also arranged activities such as a visit to the cinema, and face painting. It was amazing to see how their confidence and self esteem grew during my time there. I received a letter thanking me for my contribution and also with specific reference to one child who was very sick but showed a drastic improvement as a result of my care and work with her. I also worked in a township school once a week, teaching the children arts and crafts as well as helping with an after school homework club. However this programme was run by a profit organisation which contributed little of the fee to the haven or the school. I think this is wrong and more needs to be done to make sure profit organisations like this cannot operate in this way and that more young people are given the opportunity to work on projects but not at such a cost. I want to work within this field to help make a change, working with NGO\'s and government organisations, policy makers to ensure aid is allocated and governed correctly. Furthermore, I would love to become a black belt kickboxer, travel around the world, have my pictures published in top magazines and to build my own 'grand design' house one day!
